Many years ago, I was frustrated with the state of the world. It seemed no one cared about anyone or anything. I stood at the window of our apartment in Frederick staring out at the little stream there looking at all the garbage. Just then, a little old lady walked into my view from down stream. She was picking up trash. There was much more than she could remove, but it didn't stop her from picking up what she could. I instantly felt inspired and realized that even though we may not be able to "fix" the world, even the tiny positive changes we can make have an impact. I see the challenge of homelessness the same way. Note that only one letter changes in the word hopelessness. Helping Up offers hope, and we can help Helping Up.
