Hello friends and supporters,

I wrote the following on the eve of a month of sobriety, but things have changed. I am participating in the 5K and I will be gathering with the "2024 Team HUM" on the morning of October 19, 2024.

  Yes, I relapsed yet again. Some call me a chronic relapser. I guess I am. But, I pray to God that this was my last. Do to this circumstance, I will not be participating in the Baltimore Running Festival as my physical condition is not what it needs to be. I am fine other than not being able to run any great distance due to my lack of running and exercise. But, I am improving.

  This past relapse has affected me more mentally. Certain mental health issues surfaced that I didn't experience at any other time. I was in the darkest place of my life and had contemplated ideas that I had not entertained before. For that reason I spent 9 days in the "hospital" getting specialized treatment. As I am now being provided Intense Outpatient Therapy and the aid of a few medications. And I am improving.

  The Helping Up Mission had saved my life on a number of occassions and I whole-heartedly believe in their approach to recovery. They have saved thousands of lives over the past 30 years and they will continue to do so with your and my support. Their Staff and volunteers are top-notch and dedicated to every persons recovery. With my help...and yours, the men and women in the long-term recovery program are improving.
